Born Aug. 10, 1918, in Somerset County, he was the son of Daniel and Effie (Marker) Critchfield. He was retired from Honse Co., where he was a bookkeeper. Mr. Critchfield was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Worthington; American Legion Post 828; and the Masons, Meyersdale Lodge #554. Additionally, Mr. Critchfield was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was an avid trout fisherman. He is survived by his wife, the former Eloise Englehart, whom he married July 7, 1946; one son, Rex, Mesa, Ariz.; and two daughters: Mrs. William (Karen) Elliott, Butler, and Mrs. Thomas (Eloise) Kearse, Marshall, Okla. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one brother, Daniel "Skip" Critchfield of Meyersdale. Visitation was held April 21 at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington. Services were held April 22, with the Rev. Thomas Clyde of the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church, Saxonburg, officiating. Interment, Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.
