Critchfield, 55, of Vanderbilt RD 1, died at his home, Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1972. He was born June 13, 1917, in Ursina, a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Miller) Critchfield. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife, Gladys: a daughter, Mrs. John Boras of Vanderbilt; a son, William D. Jr., Star Junction; four granddaughters; two brothers and two sisters: Joseph Critchfield, Ursina; James of Crown Point, Ind.; Mrs. John French, Seabrook," Texas; and Mrs. James Bower of Confluence. He was a retired guard for the U.S. Steel Company, Clairton Works: a member of Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Company and the Bittner Sportmen's Club. Funeral service will be held at one o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon in Blair-Lowther Funeral Home in Perryopolis, with Rev. Harlan M. Eck officiating. Interment in Ursina Cemetery.
