CRITCHFIELD, 86 died Sunday at 2:15 p.m., at the residence of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Cook on East Main street following an illness of 7 months of complications. Mr. Critchfield was born in Milford Township and spent his entire life in this county. He was a son of Joseph and Phoebe Cunningham Critchfield. His wife, Mrs. Phoebe Critchfield passed away 7 years ago and he is survived by the following children: Mrs. S. H. Mostollar of Somerset; Mrs. Harry Pyle of Milford township; Mrs. Charles Miller of Hartsville, Ohio, Mrs. Cook mentioned above, R. E. Critchfield of Akron, Ohio; V. R. Critchfield of Rockwood; Mrs. Earl Ludlow of Akron, Ohio. Three daughters and a son preceded him in death. He is also survived by one brother, Calvin Critchfield, of Somerset; 25 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at the Cook residence Tuesday afternoon at 3 by the Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church. Interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Milford township will be directed by Walter S. Hoffman, Somerset mortician. Somerset Daily American 24 June 1940.
