"Cliff" 11/01/05 Daily American Tuesday, November 1, 2005 Clifton F. "Cliff" Crosbie, 73, Rockwood, died Oct. 29, 2005, at his residence. Born Sept. 26, 1932, in New Eagle, he is the son of the late Clifton F. and Alice (Gamble) Crosbie. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Ann (Duppstadt) Crosbie and infant son, Regis; brother, Robert and an uncle Regis Gamble. Survived by sons, Clifton Crosbie III, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and Kurt Crosbie and wife, JoAnne, Karns City; and daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Allison) Carpenter, Rockwood, with whom he resided. Also survived by grandchildren, April Marie, Samantha K., Hope Elizabeth, Allexs Ann and Adam Clifton Carpenter, Morgan, Ashlee, Ian, Kristian and Kloe Crosbie and Brandi, Bobby Platt, Brett Weimer and wife, Shari, and Elizabeth Weimer; four great-grandchildren and brother, Edward Crosbie, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of Monogahela High School class of 1950 and attended Pennsylvania State University from 1952-1955 with first class of the Korean GI bill. Veteran of U.S. Army, serving at White Sands Proving Grounds with the V-2 rocket program. He began a radio career in 1949 that covered 50 years, working in Charleroi, Clearfield and Punxsutawney stations. Worked 22 years from 1967 to 1990 as bureau chief for the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. Employed later by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and for nine years reported for a Johnstown area TV station. With Dorothy Ann, he traveled in 25 countries, from Tahiti to Poland. He served St. Peter's Church as lecturer, Sunday school instructor and as an altar boy. He was president of Theta Alpha Phi National Honorary Dramataic fraternity and the Penn State Players. Co-founder of the Somerset County Retired State Police Breakfast Group. He was a special Deputy Sheriff and belonged to state and national lodges, as well as the Fraternal Order of Police. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Thomas E.
