ELLEN CROWE

  Mrs. Ellen Crowe, 62, wife of Robert Crowe, died at her home at Avilton, Md., 
about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Jan. 1, after a lingering illness.  She was 
born at Frostburg, Feb. 27, 1879, daughter of Daniel W. and Margaret Warne.  
Practically all of her life had been spent in this section and for many years 
she had resided in the Avilton community.  Surviving, besides her husband, are 
two daughters, Mrs. Henry Michael, Grantsville, and Mrs. Ora Durst, Avilton, one 
grandchild; and five brothers, Salem Y. Warne and Jabez W. Warne, Cleveland, O.; 
Stanley Warne, Frostburg, Wilbur Warne, Avilton and Charles Warne, Grantsville.  
Mrs. Crowe had been a member of the New Germany Methodist Church for 44 years.  
Funeral services were conducted in the church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by 
her pastor, Rev. Virgil R. Gillum.  Interment was in the adjoining cemetery 
under the supervision of William Winterberg, Grantsville mortician.  Pallbearers 
were Orville G. Stark, Herman H. Robeson, Otha S. Fike, William B. Garlitz, 
Raymond Broadwater and E. Q. Michaels.
