Cupp, 77, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William S. Livengood Jr., in Somerset. He had been ill for a short time. Born Aug. 9, 1869, in Somerset County, he was a son of Philip F. and Catherine (Speicher) Cupp, both deceased. His wife, the former Mary Lakel, of Addison, died in 1944. Mr. Cupp graduated from Juniata College at Huntingdon in 1895. For a number of years he taught school in Winnabow, N.C.; in Louisiana and in both Somerset and Cambria Counties, Pa. He was in the lumber business in Oxford, North Carolina for a number of years. Later, he was associated with his brother, the late Harry H. Cupp, in the Cupp Stores in Johnstown and Somerset. He was the owner of the Cupp Feed Company of Somerset for many years. As a teacher, businessman, citizen and churchman, Mr. Cupp was held in high esteem. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martha Livengood and Mrs. Hugh Overton, of Durham, N.C. and two grandchildren. Mr. Cupp was the last surviving member of the Philip Cupp family. Three brothers, W. W., G. G. and H. H. Cupp, and a sister Linda, Mrs. Harvey Griffith, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Livengood home in Somerset, his pastor, Rev. Galen R. Blough, assisted by Rev. Dr. C. C. Ellis, president emeritus of Juniata College, officiating. Interment in the Husband Cemetery under the direction of the Hauger Funeral Home.
