  CUSTER
  
  Elwood R. Custer, 78 of Somerset RD 7, died May 8, 1987, at Shadyside
  Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born April 2, 1909, in Somerset Township, son of the
  late William and Katherine (Rhoads) Custer.  Survived by his wife of 50
  years, the former Gennie McLaney; and one daughter, Carol Custer of Silver
  Spring, Md.  Brother of: Louise Custer of Somerset RD 5; Mrs. John
  (Dorothy) Barchey of Somerset RD 5; Mrs. James (Rosalie) Lauer of Maryland;
  and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Meyers of Pittsburgh.  Retired employee of Miller
  Rhoads Company, formerly D.W. Rhoads Company.  Friends will be received 2-4
  and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where funeral
  services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. H. James Meyers
  officiating.  Interment, Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
