  LESTER H. CUSTER
  
  Lester H. Custer, 64, Huckleberry Highway, Stonycreek Township, died Sept.
  2, 2004 at Windber Hospice.  Born Dec. 21, 1939 in Central City, he was the
  son of Kenneth and Grace (Boyer) Custer.  Preceded in death by his parents
  and brothers Harold and Scott.  Survived by his wife, the former Nancy
  Onstead; sons Douglas W. married to the former Natalie Hillegass, Friedens;
  Lester C. married to the former Carol "Jeannie" Miller, Berlin;
  grandchildren Whitney, Evan, Courtney, and Allyson Custer, brother Kenneth
  and sisters Helen and Ruby.  He was a former mechanic for Hoffman Mining,
  Friedens, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He attended Unity United Church
  of Christ, and was an avid trout and steelhead fisherman, and also enjoyed
  hunting.  Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday
  at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday
  with Rev. Jay E. Shaffer officiating.  Interment Walker Cemetery,
  Shanksville.
