  Robert D. Custer, 77, Shanksville, died April 25, 2006, at home. Born Dec. 19,
  1928, in Shanksville, a son of Frank J. and Carrie (Shank) Custer. Preceded in
  death by parents; brothers, Kenneth, John and Paul Richard; and a sister, Betty
  (Custer) Walker Cotter. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor (Dively)
  Custer; son, Robert (Robin) Custer Jr., Shanksville; a daughter, Sharon "Toots"
  (Chuck) Reckner, Boswell; grandchildren, Abby (Custer) Stutzman, Jessica
  (Custer) Younkin, Robert Custer III, Shannon Reckner, Eric Reckner, and Robbie
  Reckner; great-grandchildren Carly Stutzman, Matty Stutzman, Hunter Younkin and
  Olivia Younkin. Also survived by a sister, Gladys Wilt, Shanksville. Robert was
  a retired foreman for Solar Fuel Co. He served in the Army during the Korean
  era. He was a member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, the Shanksville
  Silver and Gold Club, Somerset Lodge 0358 F&AM, Scottish Rite, and the Somerset
  American Legion. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader. He
  took great pleasure in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family will
  receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Deaner Funeral Home,
  Stoystown where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev.
  Randy Newell officiating. Interment in Walker Cemetery, Shanksville. Memorial
  contributions may be made to "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N. Center Ave., Somerset,
  PA 15501. The members of F&AM Lodge 0358 will gather at 7 p.m. Friday at the
  funeral home to conduct a service for Robert.
