DAHL John Joseph Dahl, well known resident of Meyersdale, passed away early Saturday morning at his home on Olinger Street, the result of a sudden heart attack. He was born February 16, 1885, in Cumberland, Md., the son of Daniel and Catherine (Rohman) Dahl. He lived in Meyersdale for approximately 50 years. He was in partnership with his brothers, Charles (now deceased) and William L., in the Dahl Bros. Bakery. Later he and Charles were proprietors of a bowling alley and billiard parlor, which John continued after the death of his brother. At the time of his death, he was operating a billiard parlor in the Vitale building. Mr. Dahl was an active member of the Meyersdale Lions Club, the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department and of SS. Philip and James Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ann (Counihan) Dahl, whom he married November 28, 1918, and by three daughters, Sister Mary Catherine Laboure, a Sister of Mercy, stationed at St. Kevin Convent, Auburndale, Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Donald Fisk, Florida, and Miss Joann at home. Also surviving are three brothers, William L. Dahl, Meyersdale rural mail carrier, Clarence Dahl, Wilkinsburg, superintendent of the Eddy Press, Pittsburgh's largest commercial printing plant, and Alfred Dahl, Seattle, Wash. A high mass of requiem was offered on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in SS. Philip and James Catholic Church. The mass was celebrated by Father A. J. Bechtold. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery, under direction of R. Reich & Son, morticians. Meyersdale Republican, December 25, 1947
