Darr, 75, of 182 Watson St., Johnstown, died July 25, 1981, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born March 19, 1906, in Johnstown, the son of Harry W. and Margaret R. (Walker) Darr. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife, the former Marie Leffler; and son, Dr. Fred W. II of Washington, D.C. Brother of John, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and Herbert H., married to the former Dorothy Staicer, of Johnstown. Member of the First United Methodist Church, served on the Board of Trustees and was treasurer of the Sunday School; also chairman of the Administrative Board, and a member of the choir for many years. Was retired secretary and treasurer of the Johnstown School District with 42 years service. Member of the Greater Johnstown Retired Teachers Association. Member of Johnstown Lodge 538, F. and A.M., The Portage Royal Arch Chapter 195, Cambria Council No. 32, Oriental Commandry No. 61 Knights Templar, Jaffa Temple, and Johnstown Shrine Club of which he was a member of the board of directors. Member of the Johnstown Lions Club and was secretary from 1974 to 1981. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., 514 Somerset St., Johnstown, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. J. Paul Ciampa officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In memory of Mr. Darr, the family requests donations to be made to the Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church.
