  Helen L. (Shaffer) Darr, 81 of Meyersdale, formerly of Jenners, Winona Lake, 
  Ind., and Washington, Pa., died August 5, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare Meyersdale.  
  A daughter of the late Homer F. and Jennie (Gindlesperger) Shaffer.  Born 
  January 15, 1922 in Stoystown.  Survived by her husband, Rev. Shimer E. Darr.  
  They were married December 28, 1944.  Also survived by two children:  William E. 
  Darr and his wife Joan, of Warsaw, Ind.; and Doris, wife of Rev. Albert 
  Valentine, of Summit Mills; grandsons Michael and David Darr, and Jason, Steven 
  and Marc Valentine; great-grandchildren Emily and Rachel Darr; Adam, Caleb and 
  Catherine Darr; Ty and Sam Prentice.  A sister of Lois Litzinger, Johnstown; 
  Verna Boyer, Hooversville; Carl Shaffer, Canton, Ohio; and Donald Shaffer, 
  Hooversville.  Helen worked at Acme Die Defense Plant in Latrobe, during World 
  War II.  A member of the Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church.  Friends will be 
  received 2 to 4 and 7 to 0 p.m. Thursday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale.  
  Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the Summit Mills Grace Brethren 
  Church with the Rev. Albert Valentine officiating.  Interment Center Church 
  Cemetery, (Summit Township), Garrett.
