He was born in Boswell, Somerset County, a son of Joseph and Rose Parisi D'Arrigo, and resided in Canonsburg for the past 37 years. Mr. D'Arrigo was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Canonsburg. He was a graduate of Somerset High School. He earned a degree in education at California University of Pennsylvania and earned a master's degree in education at West Virginia University. He was a collegiate All-American football player. He taught history and driver's education in Canon-McMillan School District, where he was a football coach. Mr. D'Arrigo worked in the automobile sales business for 40 years and was sales manager at Tomsic Olds-Cadillac Co. He was a charter member of the Italian-American Cultural and Heritage Society of Washington County, which was chartered in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Lavrich D'Arrigo; two sons, James D'Arrigo of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert D'Arrigo of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Amy Ciotti of Canonsburg, and a brother, Sam D'Arrigo of Boswell. Deceased are two brothers, Philip and Carmel D'Arrigo. Friends of John Joseph D'Arrigo will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College St., Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in the St. Patrick Worship Site of St. Patrick Parish, Canonsburg. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and Allegheny University Hospitals-Forbes Hospital. Daily American, August 26, 1998 [D0089]
