Born Sept. 15, 1917, in Dillonville, Ohio, a son of George Joseph and Johanna (Hajnak) Datko. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sons: George Phillip and Charles Datko; three sisters: Mary Miller, Agnes Datko and Jennie Datko. Survived by wife, the former Elizabeth Mauger, to whom he was married 61 years; three children: Mrs. Frank (Joan) King of Hooversville, Steve J. "Butch" Datko of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Mrs. Carl (Verna) Matheny of Cleveland, Ohio. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. He was a brother of John Datko of Windber; Frank Datko of Citrus Hill, Fla.; Mrs. Julia D. Farkosh of Somerset; Joseph Datko of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Helen Persuhn of Listie; Mrs. Donald E. (Jane) Seese of Somerset; and Andrew Datko of Bedford, Ohio. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 181. World War II Veteran, U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he worked for Ford Motor Company. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hauger-Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral mass, 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset, with the Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant. A vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
