DAUGHERTY August 30, 1920 - May 12, 2003 Margaret E. Daugherty, 82, passed away at Grand View Hospital in West Rockhill Twp., on Monday, May 12, 2003. A resident of the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville since 1998, she had formerly resided in Baltimore, Md. Born in Meyersdale on August 30, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Cecelia (Burke) Daugherty. She received her Masters degree in Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh. She served as head nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Pittsburg, Puerto Rico, Birmingham, Ala., Roseburg, Ore., and Baltimore. Miss Daugherty served as a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Parkville, Md. Surviving is a brother-in-law, Nevin Schrock, Jr., of Lakeland, Fla.; niece Michel Indelicato and her husband Al of Royersford; nephew Michael Schrock and his wife Gloria of Wilsonville, Ore.; and two great nieces: Laurie Miller and Carolyn Schrock of Wilsonville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Schrock in 1993. Relatives and friends were invited to attend her Memorial services on both Monday at St. John's Evangelical Church of Parkville, Baltimore and Tuesday at the chapel at Peter Becker Community., Harleysville. Interment was private at Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to either the Mended Hearts Chapter 71, Baltimore, MD 21234, or to the Peter Becker Community at the address above.
