DAVIS Francis Charles "Whitey" Davis, 72, of RD 3, Bedford, near the Maryland state line, was dead on arrival Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, MD. Born in Cumberland, Md., Nov. 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Harvey W. and Theoda (Collins) Davis. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was a charter member of the Has Beens, Inc., and was a member of Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include his widow, Elaine (Fishel) Davis; one son, Charles Davis, Lynn, Mass.; three daughters, Shirley Weddle, Tampa, Fla.; Patt Hitt, Marion, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Lonce, Uniontown; one sister, Pearl Bachanowic, Annapolis, MD; two brothers, William Davis, Owings Mills; and Earl Davis, address unknown; 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral residence where services were conducted Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. Interment, White Oak Cemetery.
