  ROBERT CLARENCE DAVIS, JR.
  
    Robert Clarence Davis Jr., 79, of Somerset, died July 3, 2000 at Somerset
  Hospital.  Born Dec. 30, 1920 in Somerset.  Son of Robert C. and Clara Emma
  Jane (Baker) Davis Sr.  Preceded in death by parents, wife Mary Ellen Davis
  who died Dec. 27, 1984 and sister Rose Ann Davis.  Survived by children:
  Mrs. Robert K. (Susan) Hersch of Somerset, and Douglas W. Davis, married to
  the former Sandra Kaufman of York, and two grandchildren, Miss Amanda
  Elizabeth Hersch and Timothy Robert Davis.  Brother of Mrs. Dr. Walter
  (Jane) Moore of Wilmington, Del. and long time friend Florence Weightman of
  Rockwood.  Member of Grace United Methodist Church, 1939 graduate of
  Somerset High School.  Retired in 1983 as a lab supervisor for the former
  Beatrice Foods Plant of Somerset.  Veteran of World War II, serving as a
  S/Sgt. with the US Army Air Force.  Also member of the VFW Post 554 and the
  Local 453 International Brotherhood of Teamsters.  Friends will be received
  from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m.
  Friday with the Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating.  Interment, Somerset
  County Memorial Park.  Contributions may be made to the American Cancer
  Society, Somerset County Unit, 168 West Union Street, Somerset, Pa. 15501
  or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, 2 Gateway Center, 13
  North, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.
