His wife's cousin, Harold Denny of Cuyahoga Falls, O., was killed at the same time. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were golfing guests of the Denny's and the four were together when the tragedy occurred. The two women were stunned by the same bolt. William Davis was born in Confluence, the son of the late Wilbur L. Davis and of Mrs. Wilma Watson Davis. He was a member of the faculty of Gannon College in Erie, from which he recently resigned to join the faculty of Miami University at Coral Gables, Fla. He was married to the former Jane Haven, daughter of the mayor of New Castle. They were living temporarily at his wife's home in New Castle, expecting within a week to leave for Florida. Meantime they were on a visit to relatives in Ohio. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother who resides in Dallas, Tex.; a brother, James Walker Davis, and a sister, Mrs. Palmer Hooker, both of Dallas, and another brother, Clifford Davis of New York City.
