Dawson died May 2, 1941, at the home of his son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Hillary J. Dawson, Meyersdale, where he made his home since the death of his wife January 12, 1940. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Evans, and one infant son. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ida Jones and Mrs. Ada Kerns, and one son, Hillary, mentioned above; also by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. He was born in Berkley Springs, W.Va., March 8, 1861. He was baptized in the Christian Church at Paw Paw, W.Va., and was an elder of that church and the Meyersdale Christian Church for the last fifty years. He was also a member of the Knights of Malta for a number of years. The funeral services were conducted at the Dawson home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Carl Buterbaugh of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Union Cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, local mortician. Meyersdale Republican, May 8, 1941
