Melvin Leroy Deal, Sr., 74, of Meyersdale RD 3, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 1996, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born Jan. 3, 1922, in Greenville Township, he was a son of the late William and Mary A. (Baer) Deal. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert, and two sisters, Betty and Dorothy. Deal was a member of Greenville Lutheran Church and was a retired sheet metal worker for Allegany Ballistics. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Salisbury VFW Post 8826 and Grantsville American Legion Post 214. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bernice Mae (Paul) Deal; a son, Melvin Deal, Jr., Cumberland, Md.; six brothers: Ralph Deal, West Salisbury; Donald, Paul and John Deal, all of Meyersdale; Walter and Carl Deal, both of Finzel, Md.; five sisters: Ethel Clark and Kathleen Yutzy, both of Meyersdale; Edna Brown and Marybelle Brown, both of Finzel, Md.; Pauline Glotfelty, Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren: Lisa Marie Zembower, Rodney Leroy Deal and Tara Ann Deal, and one great-grandson, Nathan Michael Zembower. Friends were received at Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury. Services were conducted Wednesday at Greenville Lutheran Church, the Rev. David Fetter officiating. Interment, Greenville Cemetery.
