DEANER 

Rachel Caroline Deaner, 95, of Somerset RD 2, died Sept. 1, 1989 at Siemon 
Lakeview Manor Estate.  Born Feb. 21, 1894 in Conemaugh Township, a daughter of 
the late Horatio H. and Cadilla (Border) Kassler.  Preceded in death by husband 
Russell Ross Deaner Sr., and brothers Henry and Ernest, sisters Rebecca Shoff, 
Ruth Cassler and Rose Koutz.  Survived by sons Russell Ross Deaner Jr., of 
Cleveland, Ohio; and Robert C. Deaner, Rockwood RD 2; granddaughters Mrs. Terry 
(Diana) Coughenour, Mrs. William (Alicia) Westerman and Marjorie Deaner; one 
great-granddaughter Rachael Coughenour.  Sister of Strohl Cassler, Mrs. Rena 
Kaufman, Miss Romaine Cassler and Miss Regina Cassler, all of Davidsville.  
Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, past president of Somerset Garden Club, past 
president of American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary.  Friends received from 7 to 9 
pm. Today at the Hauger-Ziegler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 10 
a.m. Wednesday, Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.  Interment, Somerset County 
Memorial Park.
