Born Sept. 28, 1894, at McAlevys Fort. He was a son of the late Steven Alexander and Mary Emma (Crownover) DeArmitt. Also preceded in death by daughter, Novenia Beris; a great-granddaughter, four brothers and five sisters. Survived by wife, t3; Herbert, married to Janet Mehelchick, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Ray (Martha) Wright, Geneva, Ohio; Mrs. Drexell (Marlene) Leonard, Listie; Larry, married to Darlene Boyer, Berlin RD 3; Lois, at home; 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Death ends a marriage union of 67 years. Member of Mostoller United Methodist Church; a World War I Navy veteran; charter member of the Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion, Stoystown; and Somerset Barracks 3218 World War I veterans. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will be removed to Mostoller United Methodist Church to lie in state from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Herbert Lohr officiating. Interment, Mostoller Church Cemetery.
