He was born Dec. 12, 1927, in the Netherlands. He is survived by his wife, Tonny Moolhuyzen DeBakker; and these children; Carol J., Audrey W. and Andre A., all at home. He received his medical degree at the University of Leyden in 1955 and came to the United States in 1957; interned at the Altoona Hospital 1947-59; residency at the Youngstown (Ohio) Hospital 1959-61. He was a director of the Department of Anesthesiology, Somerset Community Hospital, 1961-66. He returned to the Altoona Hospital as assistant director of the Depart of Anesthesiology, 1966-69 and as director from 1969 until the present. He belonged to various medical and scientific societies. He was a member of the Broad Avenue United Presbyterian Church, Altoona, where he served as deacon. There will be a memorial service at the church at 7 p.m. Tuesday, today. Memorial contributions may be given to the Andre DeBakker Memorial Fund at the Altoona Hospital.
