    Nelo A. "Hooknose," Deetscreek, 79, Stoystown RD 3, formerly of Nanty Glo, 
  died Sept. 18, 1996 at Meadowview Nursing Home, Berlin.  Born June 2, 1917 in 
  Nanty Glo, son of the late John and Hulda (Maki) Deetscreek.  Preceded in death 
  by wife, Anne "Whitey" Ray-Deetscreek, brothers Verner, Elmer, Wilmer and 
  sisters Sadie Crain, Lillian Markle and an infant sister.  Survived by 
  children, Jerry Ray, married to former Linda Walk, Nanty Glo; Ruthanne, wife, 
  of George Hill, Nanty Glo, RD; Colleen, wife of Walter Galko, Nanty Glo; Thomas 
  Ray married to former Roxanne Tweedy, Nanty Glo RD, James Ray, married to 
  former Regina Martin, Johnstown RD, and Karen, wife of Allan Young, Stoystown, 
  Rd.  Also 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Brother of Lena 
  Peterson, William and Ernest, all of Nanty Glo Rd.  Member of St. Mark Lutheran 
  Church, Shanksville and former member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran 
  Church, Mundys Corner.  Retired with 42 years of service with Bethlehem Mines 
  #31.  Member UMWA Local #1386.  Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the 
  Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo.  Funeral Service will be held at 
  St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Friday.  The Revs. Richard Duerr and 
  William H. Snyder, officiating.  Interment United Brethren Cemetery, Belsano.  
  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Somerset Home Health, Berlin 
  office, 420 West Market St., Berlin, Pa. 15530 in Nelo's memory.
