Deetz, 83 of Meyersdale, died July 18, 2007 at Meyersdale Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1924 in Blue Island, IL, a son of the late James and Mary (Muldowney) Deetz. Also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise (Hady) Deetz; brother, Tommy Deetz; and sister, Winifred Stepanik. Survived by three children: Michael Deetz, and his wife Ellen, Denver, PA; Thomas H. Deetz, Meyersdale; and Sally Jack, Colonia, NJ. Grandchildren: Michelle (Deetz) Reber, Narvon; Mark and Amy (Deetz), Wenger, Camp Hill; Thomas Deetz, Rheinhold; Chris and Chaley (Deetz) Clark, Elizabethtown; Bradley Deetz, Harrisburg; Justin and Janelle (Deetz) Lorson, Somerset; and Zavier Jack. Great grandchildren: Allison Reber, Cameron Clark, Aiden Lorson, Brandon Bodes, and Finn Richard Lorson. A brother of Margaret, wife of Richard Summers, Crestwood, IL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A veteran of the U.S. Army WWII where he was a member of the USAAF 575th Band. Retired teacher for the Meyersdale Area School District. A member of the Meyersdale Lions Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge 1951, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 112. Viewing and visitation was private for family members. Funeral Mass was Friday at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. James M. Dugan VF celebrant. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. Arrangements by the William Rowe Price Funeral Home, Inc., Meyersdale. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to De La Salle Institute, Office for Advancement, 3455 South Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60616-3827, to help poor and unfortunate boys get a Christian education.
