      Alta F. (Lohr) Deist, 77, of Penn Avenue, Boswell RD, died Nov. 23, 2001 at 
  UPMC Lee Regional, Johnstown.  Born July 15, 1924 in Boswell, daughter of 
  Norman Bruce and Rose Ann (Berkey) Lohr.  Preceded in death by parents; son 
  James E.; sisters Leora Geisweidt and Alma Lohr; and brother Merle.  Survived 
  by these children: David, married to the former Sally Hay of Somerset, John 
  "Willie," married to the former Helen Dangel of Duncansville, Sandra, married 
  to Terry Weaver of Boswell RD, Rev. William of Cranberry, Thomas, married to 
  the former Cheryl Lohr of Boswell RD, Judith, married to Gary Pelesky of 
  Stoystown RD, Paul "Foss" of Boswell RD, and Dennis, married to the former 
  Claire Cornell of Friedens; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 
  brother Harrold of New Albany, Ind.; and daughter-in-law Shirley (Baker) Deist 
  of Boswell RD.  A 1942 graduate of the former Boswell High School, member of 
  Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown, and ILGWU.  She was a 
  seamstress for 17 years with the former Dorfman and Hoffman Garment Factory, 
  Boswell and was an avid NASCAR and all-sports fan.  Friends received from 2 to 
  4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, and 
  from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service. Tuesday, at Laurel Trinity Church, the 
  Rev. James A. McCormick Jr. officiating.  Interment in Jenner Crossroads 
  Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Alta's name may be sent to the Area 
  Agency of Aging 1338 South Edgewood Ave., Somerset, Pa 15501.
