L. McFarlane of Bedford, Ohio, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1944, at the age of 92 years. She was born in Germany in 1852, and came to this country at the age of 19, with her parents who located in Somerset County. Her husband died about 21 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Deist are well-remembered here, having lived in Trans-Meyersdale for many years, where they reared a ---- William died in infancy, and two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Kreitzburg and Mrs. Jeannette Austin are also deceased. The surviving children are Mrs. Emma McFarlane of Bedford, O.; Mrs. Mary Litesy of Youngstown, O.; Henry C. Deist of Akron, O.; and Mrs. Martha Bruce of Easton, Pa. Among other survivors are William Poschmann, a brother, of Cleveland, O., 23 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren. Mrs. Deist's remains were brought to Meyersdale Friday afternoon for burial. Services were conducted in Amity Evangelical and Reformed Church of which she was a life long member, on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Nelson C. Brown. Interment was made in the Reformed Cemetery in charge of R. Reich & Son. Meyersdale Republican, March 2, 1944 [* a line of this obit is missing]
