Born Nov. 3, 1922 in Coal Junction, son of Benjamin and Ada (Meese) Deist. Preceded in death by parents, two infant daughters, sister Evelyn Gohn and brothers Donald, James, Daniel and Charles. Survived by wife, the former Shirley Fay Klebonis, daughters Carolyn Faye, married to Jay Zimmerman, Indian Lake, and Barbara Ann, married to Jerry Lingenfelter, Bedford; two grandsons, Perry J. and Chad J. Zimmerman; and sisters, Edith Avery of Dover and Emily Deist of Jenners. Also survived by canine buddies Honey and Bodie. Charter member of the Jenner Rod and Gun Club where he served on the fish committee for many years. Also a member of the USWA. Navy veteran of World War II. A retired employee of the former U.S. Steel Corporation Johnstown Works. Would have observed 54th wedding anniversary Aug. 20, 2000. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell where service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Ronzil L. Jarvis officiating.
