Deist, 86, of Glencoe RD 1, died May 9, 1979, at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. She was born Dec. 10, 1892, in Northampton Township, a daughter of Harvey and Anna (Scheller) Poorbaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, William C., and these children: Freeman P. of Hyndman; Donald W., Glencoe RD 1; and Mrs. Donald J. (Margaret) Ayers, New Wilmington RD 1; seven grandchildren: Freeman P. Deist Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Donley (Marianne)Logue Jr., Hyndman; Dale Deist, Fresno, Calif.; Arthur I. Deist, Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Rick (Audrey) Sechler, Glencoe; Donna G. Ayers, Endicott, N.Y.; and Ronald Ayers of New Wilmington; six great-grandchildren. She was a sister of: Mrs. Bertha Smith, Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. Herman (Mary) Keefer, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Roydon (Ada) Hay. Tampa, Fla. Her death terminated a marriage of 62 years. She was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ, Mt. Lebanon. Friends were received at Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
