Deist, 24, Fort Dix, N.J., formerly of Boswell, died March 27, 1976, at Lancaster General Hospital as a result of injuries received after being thrown by a horse. Born Aug. 10, 1951, in Somerset a son of James Daniel and Ethel (Emert) Deist. Survived by his parents of Boswell. Was a brother of Larry E. of Manheim, Pa., and Sandra L., wife of Richard Bowser of East Petersburg, Pa. Also survived by maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Emert, Somerset. A graduate of the Boswell campus, North Star High School, class of 1969, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, class of 1972. He was a range officer at Fort Dix Army Training Center. Friends were received Sunday evening and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday (today) at Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Richard M. Smith officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
