Born November 3, 1927, in Jennings, Md. A daughter of the late Elroy Butler and Nora (Miller) Butler Lottig. Also preceded in death by her husband Cloyd B. Deist Sr., three grandchildren: Vicky Deist, Kirk Richard Deist, and Neil Richard Deist; one great-grandchild, Joshua Deist, and one brother, Harold Butler. Survived by four children: Cloyd B. Deist Jr. and his wife Mary Alice, Somerset; Betty Jo Sipple, Meyersdale; Shirley, wife of Victor Hickman, Wheaton, Md.; and Richard Deist, and his wife Mary Ann, Meyersdale. A sister of Wilda Baker, Meyersdale; Homer Butler, Ohio; Johnny Butler, and his wife Carolyn, Meyersdale; and Leonard Lottig, and his wife Clara, Meyersdale. Eight grandchildren: David Deist, and his wife Sandy; Brian Deist, and his wife Julie; Stacey Deist; Michael Sipple, and his wife Diane; Jennifer Sipple and her friend Herbie Engle; Timmy Hickman; Larry Hickman; Jason Hickman, and his wife Janeen; also 12 great-grandchildren. Thelma was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, and was a life member of the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. Pastor Pete Kaltenbaugh officiating.
