Deist, 86, of Glencoe RD 1, died Oct. 5, 1980 in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born March 14, 1894, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Charles and Minnie (Kroushour) Deist. He was preceded in death by parents; his wife, the former Nettie Poorbaugh, who died in 1979; and three brothers. He is survived by these children: Freeman P., Hyndman; Donald W., Glencoe RD 1; and Mrs. Donald (Margaret) Ayers, New Wilmington RD 1. Also the following grandchildren: Freeman P. Deist Jr., Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Donley (Marianne) Logue Jr., Manns Choice; Dale W. Deist, Fresno, Cal.; Arthur J. Deist, Ronanoke, Va.; Mrs. Rick (Audrey) Sechler, Glencoe; Ronald Ayres, New Wilmington; and Mrs. Chris (Donna) Graham, Canfield, Ohio; and nine great grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Florence Poorbaugh, Roaring Spring; Mrs. Ella Schrader, Orlando, Fla.; and Mrs. Mary Folk, Salisbury RD. He was a retired farmer, a member of New Hope United Church of Christ, I.O.O.F., and Woodmen of the World, both of Grantsville, Md. Friends were received Sunday at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. William Moser and the Rev. Samuel Weible officiating. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
