Derencin, 96, Friedens, died July 20, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. Born June 24, 1912, in Pittsburgh, he is the son of the late Marijan and Amelia (Arthur) Derencin. Also preceded in death by first wife, Lillian (Sullivan); sons, Ronald and James; brothers, Elliott "Shorty" and Marijan Derencin. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Daisy (Merringer) Derencin; and children, Cecelia Weller and husband, Ralph, John and wife, Joan, Carol Alumbaugh and Jack Derencin, all of California; and Heidi Cramer and husband, Terry, Richland; and stepchildren, Judy Chronowski and husband, John; Sandra Miller and husband, Dale; Penny Sheetz, Ed Ross; John Miller and wife, Vicki. Brother of Dorothy Newbury, Michigan; Clifford and wife, Genieva, Somerset; Florence Welsh, Virginia; and Virginia Miller, Somerset. Also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and beloved pet, Mindy. Fred served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 8th Infantry Division and was a German interpreter. He loved sports and music and enjoyed playing the fiddle, accordion and guitar. He Retired from A.W. Francis, Somerset. His easy-going way, his great sense of humor and his smile will be greatly missed. A member of Milford United Methodist Church. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Friday in the Somerset Alliance Church. The Rev. James E. Vandervort officiating. Interment in St. John's Cemetery.
