He was born November 18, 1914 in Meyersdale, a son of the late Leo B. and Mary Edna Hoffman Derry. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith; was a Meteorologist working in Aeronautics for the FAA at Morgantown Municiple [sic] Airport; also operated the Erie Insurance Agency for many years. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Air Force; was a member of the Beau Monde Dance Club and the B.O.P. Elks Lodge #411 of Morgantown, W.Va. He is survived by one sister Dorothy Elizabeth Neumar, of Pittsburgh; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel B. Bracken Derry in July 1985; one daughter Alyson Lenhart, in 1972 and one brother, Ralph Derry. Friends were received at the Hastings Funeral Home where services were Saturday, December 2, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Jude J. Mili, OFM officiating. Interment, East Oak Grove Cemetery.
