Desmond of West Race Street, Somerset, died Nov. 19, 1973 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born in Connellsville, son of the late Sylvester and Bertha Dobrick Desmond. Preceded in death by three brothers. Survived by his widow, the former Winifred G. Tipping, brother of Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Gray, of Charleroi, Carl S., Somerset, Robert L. of Connellsville, Mrs. Jesse, (Bertha Mae) Moore, of Indianapolis, Ind. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, St. Peters Parish Society, F.O.E. and Brotherhood of Railroad Firemen. Following retirement from the B & O Railroad, Mr. Desmond was employed as a salesman for the Penn Furniture Co., Somerset. Death ended the marriage of 52 years. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home and Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Chruch [sic] with the Rev. Father Samuel Tomaselli officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery and wake services at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Daily American, 20 November 1973 [D0476]
