DeWitt Sr., aged 58 of Route 1, Oakland, Md. died September 21 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born November 30, 1918, near Sang Run, he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Emma A. (Ferguson) DeWitt. Mr. DeWitt was disabled for the past twenty years but prior to that he was employed by the Garrett County Roads Department. He is survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Anna E. DeWitt, Confluence; his wife, Ocie B. (Saucer) DeWitt; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Uphold, Crellin, Md., Mrs. Clara Artice, Deer Park, Md. and Mrs. Donna Hershman, Oakland, Md.; six sons, David C. DeWitt, Harold C. DeWitt, Richard A. DeWitt and Milton C. DeWitt, all of Oakland, Clyde E. and Albert C. DeWitt, both of Mt. Lake Park, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Glagys McCombie, Friendsville, Md.; one step-sister, Mrs. Carrie Savage, Confluence; five step-brothers, Robert C. DeWitt, Somerset, James E. DeWitt, Walter L. DeWitt, David C. DeWitt and Roy D. DeWitt, all of Confluence, 27 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home in Oakland where services were held with the Rev. John R. Jones officiating. Interment in the Gortner Cemetery.
