All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ Eldire DEWITT Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, for Mrs. Eldire Hileman DeWitt, wife of Foster DeWitt. She died Monday, May 21, at her home in Orlando, Fla., following a short illness. She was born at Hileman Ridge, Md., June 25, 1875, the daughter of the late Moses and Mary (Karling) Hileman. Mrs. DeWitt was a business woman in Confluence and vicinity for a number of years. She came here ???? first husband, LeRoy Holiday. They conducted a restaurant for some time. Mr. Holiday then became a Chevrolet dealer and finally built his garage, a building which now houses the Acme Market. After his death his widow ran the business alone until she married the late Joseph McPhail of Connellsville. Later she married Foster DeWitt, with whom she conducted a general store in Harnedsville until two years ago when they moved to Florida. Surviving her are her husband, Foster DeWitt, one sister, Mrs. Mary Weaver of Orlando, Fla., and three brothers, George Hileman of Friendsville, Md., Charles Hileman of Somerset, and James Hileman of Confluence. Interment was made in the Addison Cemetery, the Rev. John M. Miller, pastor of the E.U.B. Church of Harnedsville officiating. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hileman of Somerset, Mr. and Mrs. George Hileman of Friendsville, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Twigg and daughter of Vanderbilt, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Leer of Somerset.
