"Jack" Dice, 75, of Somerset, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, died Aug. 29, 2003 at his residence. Born June 11, 1928 in Johnstown, the son of the late John E. and Edna (Kimmel) Dice Sr. Also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Cooley and brother, Henry Dice. Survived by wife, the former Ruth Weimer; children, Robert Dice, married to the former Debbie Baer, and Mrs. Lloyd (Susan) Miller, both of Somerset; grandchildren, Kevin, David, Daniel and Timothy Miller and Angela and Hannah Dice. Member of First Christian Church where he served as deacon and elder and choir director for 50 years. Member of American Legion, Wagon Train and past president of the Teachers Organization. He was an avid gardener and hunter and dedicated to music. Retired music teacher from Somerset and rockwood Area schools where he was director of the senior high chorus and the touring choir. Also directed a number of community chorus. A 1946 graduate of Somerset High School and graduated from St. Vincent College with honors. Navy veteran of World War II and served as court officer at the Somerset County Court House. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church. Rev. Daniel Nicksich and Rev. John Barchey officiating. There will be viewing at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., P.O.
