Born March 26, 1902, he was a son of Barbara (Gergle) and Peter Dickey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Mildred Bruno and three sons, John and twins, Thomas and Steve, all of Indianapolis. He was a brother to Mrs. John (Susan) Kamalsky, of Valhalla, N.Y ,; and Pat and Joseph Dickey, of Indianapolis. Dickey worked 42 years for the New York Central Railroad, Beech Grove shops, retiring 11 years ago. He was a special policeman at City Market retiring in 1977. A clarinetist more than 50 years, Dickey played with various bands in Indianapolis from 1927 until the mid-60's. He had performed with the Vonnegut Hardware and Indiana National Guard bands and participated in several Indianapolis "500" Festival Parades. His musical work also included playing with marching bands and summer concerts at city parks. Services were held in the Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home and in St. Patrick's Catholic Church; burial in Calvary Cemetery. The Republic, December 11, 1980 [D0573]
