Diefenbach, 88, Grantsville, Md., died March 21, 1979 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born in Jennings, Md., he was a son of the late Lewis Diefenbach and Elizabeth (Bittinger) Diefenbach. His wife Sylvia (Thompson) Diefenbach, preceded him in death. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and retired owner of George's Market, Grantsville. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Christian Businessmen's Association and was active in the Springs Museum. Surviving is a foster daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Maust, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted in Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Fetter officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
