Diehl, 100, retired automobile dealer, died Monday, April 1, 1985, in Frostburg Community Hospital, Maryland. He was born at The Cove, the son of the late Joel Diehl and Hanna (Lininger) Diehl. His wife, Martha (Geis) Diehl, preceded him in death. He founded the Motor Service Company in Grantsville in 1923 and in 1935 bought the Casselman Motor Company. He retired in 1956. He was the oldest member of Christ Lutheran Church here, a life member of Lodge 113 Knights of Pythias, Oakland, Maryland; and an honorary member of the Allegany Beagle Club. Surviving are one son, Dr. Harold C. Diehl, Frostburg, Maryland; a sister, Mrs. Virginia McKenzie, Cumberland, Maryland; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Services were conducted in the Newman Funeral Home by the Rev. David Fetter. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery. The Republic, April 11, 1985 [D0584]
