Born March 31, 1911, in West Salisbury, he was a son of the late William H. and Fredericka (Gerke) Diehl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Lowry) Diehl, and one granddaughter, Mary Cathryn Bartlett. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley A. Bartlett, Smyrna, Ga., and one grandson, Robert T. Bartlett. Mr. Diehl was a member of the Meyersdale United Methodist Church, U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Salisbury American Legion and VFW and was retired house painter. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury. Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.
