Diehl, 81, of Hyndman RD 1, formerly of Columbia Street, Cumberland, Md., died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1989, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home. Born May 23, 1908, in Addison, he was the son of the late Newton and Florence (Lohr) Diehl. He was the past owner and operator of Diehl's Car Care and the Diehl Narrows Esso Station, both in Cumberland, Md. He was formerly employed by Potomac Edison bus lines and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Cumberland; and the Senior Citizen's Bowling League, LaVale, Md. Surviving are his widow, Carolyn M. (Labin) Diehl; two sons, L. Robert Diehl, Hyndman; and Charles R. Diehl, Oakton, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn P. Dempsey, Newport Richey, Fla.; three brothers, Victor Diehl, Addison; Laurence Diehl, Westland, Mich.; and Newton Diehl, Denver, Colo.; two sisters: Mrs. Lenora Nemo, Addison; and Mrs. Harriet Mooney, Schererville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by Pastor Brian Rossow. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park.
