    Betty J. Diest, 71, of Greenbelt, Md., former of Berlin, died May 4,
  1999, in Laurel, Md.  Born June 18, 1927, in Meyersdale.  Daughter of
  Chauncey and Vena (Burley) Tressler.  Preceded in death by parents;
  husband, Ralph E. Sr.; son, Robert Lee; two brothers and two sisters. 
  Survived by these children: Mildred Hymowitz of College Park, Md.; Bonnie
  Beeman, Berlin, and Ralph Eugene II of Upper Marlboro, Md.; five
  grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Sister of Mary Bartlet of
  Mitchellville, Md.  Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11
  a.m. Friday, Rev. Glenn P. Foster officiating.  Interment, Berlin IOOF
  Cemetery.
