Born June 16, 1908, in Kantner, the daughter of the late Harvey and Abi Croyle. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray Dinning Sr., who died in 1990; her brothers, Orlo Wagner and Lester Croyle; sister, Rosella Stevens; and a daughter-in-law, June Godwin Dinning. Survived by five children, Ray Dinning Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; Maxine, married to Paul Ott, Stoystown; Alan Dinning, married to Judith Henry, Kennett Square; Judith, married to Ronald Littlejohn, Lakewood, N.Y.; and David Dinning, married to Nancy Stotler, Indian Lake. Also survived by 20 grandchildren: Ken, Keith and Kevin Dinning, Gregory, Richard, Bradley and Michael Ott, Vicky Stackhouse, Patrician Pyle, Melissa Zborovancik, Alyson Kaminsky, Suzanne Fitzgerald, Amy Dinning, James and Lt. Col. Matthew Littlejohn, Betsy Seiwart, Scott, Brian and Stephen Dinning, and Rebecca Brinkmann; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Elaine McVicker. Leola was a member of the Kantner United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir for many years, was a charter member of the Sunshine Bible Class and also handled the flowers on the altar. She was a member of he Daughters of America and the Thursday night bowling league. Leola was a very gentle woman with many wonderful qualities. She loved unconditionally, especially her children and grandchildren. Her life was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing also will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Kantner United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Kephart and her niece, Penny Tucci officiating. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kantner United Methodist Church in Leola's name.
