She was the daughter of Edward (Jack) Diveley and Marguerite Hawkins Diveley, and was born in Meyersdale November 14, 1928. Virginia, who was a popular member of the younger set in Meyersdale, underwent two operations and several stays for treatment in the hospital during the past year in hopes of regaining good health. At Christmas time she was up and about, and attended some of the holiday festivities, but soon after the first of the year she had a relapse from which she could not recover. A graduate of Meyersdale High School in the class of 1946, for a time she was employed as a telephone operator. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She is survived by her parents, a sister, Mrs. Leo Durst and a brother, Edward. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon by her pastor, the Rev. H. K. Hilner, at the home of her grandfather, Harry Diveley, and aunt, Mrs. Anne Clements, on Main Street, where many friends came to pay their last respects to the young girl, prior to the services. The room in which her body lay was filled with a profusion of floral tributes. Interment was made in Union Cemetery. Out of town relatives who came to be with the family in their bereavement were Mrs. Loring T. Andrews of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Hugh Hawkins, Greenbelt, Md., sister and brother of Mrs. Jack Diveley, and Mr. and Mrs. Klare Diveley of Johnstown. Meyersdale Republican, February 3, 1949
