Born Jan 27, 1913, in Friedens. Daughter of the late Victor and Edith (Scritchfield) Fichtner. Preceded in death by a brother, John. Survived by a daughter, Darlene, wife of Ronald Kiehl, Mechanicsburg, and two grandsons, Byron and Darren, both of Mechanicsburg. Sister of Pauline Blough, Waynesboro, Va.; Mary Jane Gerhardt Scroggs, Grove City, Ohio, and Joan, wife of J. Zane Varner of Somerset. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and life member of Trinity Chapter 138, Order of Eastern Star, where she served as secretary for 26 years. Member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and National Retired Teachers Association. Life member of Somerset County Retired Public School Employees Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and National Education Association. Also member of AARP, Pianist for Retired Men's Chorus for 26 years. Retired business education teacher with 8 years in Somerset Township Schools and 28 years at Shanksville Stoneycreek Schools. Friends will be recieved from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rev. Glenn E. Sadler and Dr. J. Gerald Greiner of Mechanicsburg officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Body will be in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home by the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Trinity Chapter 138, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Doak Funeral service for Mabel (Fichtner) Doak will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Glenn E. Sadler and Dr. J. Gerald Greiner of Mechanicsburg officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
