Dom, 83, a retired steel worker, who had lived in Johnstown for more than 50 years, died Sunday evening at his home on Berkley Road, Upper Yoder Township, Cambria County. Born November 1, 1857, in Dixon, Ill., Henry Dom was a son of Oliver and Hannah (Lepley) Dom, and as a young man came east to make his home in Williamsport, Md. He was united in marriage with Miss Bettie Henry on September 15, 1886, in Winchester, Va., and the couple first made their home at Williams Station near Hyndman. After living there for one year, during which time Mr. Dom was engaged in the manufacture of fire brick, they moved to Meyersdale, where he entered the sawmill business. The family moved to Johnstown following the flood of 1889, and for nine years he was employed as a car inspector for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad with headquarters in Johnstown. He then started to work in the Cambria steel plant where he became foreman of the Franklin track repair section. Mr. Dom was retired 14 years ago. His wife preceded him to the grave on September 13, 1939. Surviving are the following children: Miss Mary Lou Dom, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Roy C. Stormer, Mrs. Forest Roseman, John Dom, Mrs. Harry K. Eakle, Mrs. Lloyd Alwine, Mrs. Thomas Briggs, Harry T. Dom, Jr., all residents of Johnstown and vicinity, and Mrs. Charles Chilcote, of Upper Darby, Philadelphia. There are ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Oliver Dom, a brother of the deceased, lives in Dawson, and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Meese, widow of Prof. John D. Meese, who died during the time that he was superintendent of the California State Normal School, resides in Pittsburgh. Edgar Klingaman, Meyers Avenue, was a nephew of the deceased, and Louis ("Gussie") Dom, of pleasant memory, uncle of the deceased, was for a number of years in the employ of the Savage Fire Brick Company in their plant located at Keystone Junction. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Dom home, with the Rev. L. H. Brumbaugh, pastor of the Roxbury Church of the Brethren, Johnstown, of which the deceased was a member, officiating. Interment was made in Berkley Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, October 30, 1941
