Donges, 69, died May 28 in Mansfield General Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen, and three sons, Christopher, Nicholas and Samuel. He was a former Meyersdale resident. Graduated from Meyersdale High School in 1924, he went on to Ashland College and Columbia University where he received a Masters Degree in 1935. Donges coached at Ashland College for 41 years and led the athletic teams to over 400 victories. He was inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame of the American Association of College Baseball Coaches in Washington, D.C. in 1973. He recently announced his retirement as Professor in Health and Physical Education, and was to receive an honorary Dr. of Humanities Degree May 16 at AC Commencement, but was unable to attend due to illness. Services were held at the First Christian Church of Ashland, Ohio, with Dembow and Primm Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Meyersdale Republic, June 3, 1976 [D0811]
