  GEORGE DONGES
  
    George P. "Shorty" Donges, 64, of Meyersdale, died March 5, 1998, in
  Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
    Born Aug. 2, 1933, in Meyersdale, he was a son of the late Steward S. and
  Ethel Marie (Phillippi) Donges.  He was also preceded in death by a brother
  and sister, Stewart and Marilyn Donges.
    Mr. Donges is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Smith, and these
  children: Cynthia M. Donges of Worchester, Mass.; Roxanne K. Friend; Molly
  L. wife of Thomas M. Smith; Kriss A., wife of Thomas E. Burt; and George,
  Jr. all of Meyersdale.  He is also survived by these grandchildren: Melissa
  and Ginger Friend; Thomas and Tessa Smith; and Philip and Daniel Burt.
    Mr. Donges was a brother of Elizabeth Buterbaugh, Inez Bontrager, Greta
  Moore, Mildred Linell, Gayle Stumpf, William Donges and Emily Marks.  He
  was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, and a 25-year member of
  the Meyersdale VFW, Meyersdale American Legion, Meyersdale Elks, and was a
  former borough council member.
    Mr. Donges was also a former member of the U.S. Army and National Guard.
    Friends were received Friday and Saturday at Leckemby Funeral Home,
  Meyersdale.  Services were conducted Sunday, March 8, at the Meyersdale
  First United Methodist Church.  Revs. Craig Lyman, Ray Gnagey and Randall
  Marburger officiated.  Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
